Ipswich man charged with attempted murder after stabbing of woman in her home

A man has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was stabbed during a suspected burglary.
The victim was upstairs in the property on Admiral Road in Ipswich on Saturday afternoon when she heard a noise and went to investigate, before finding an unknown man.
The victim, in her 40s, was stabbed after confronting the intruder, who then fled in the direction of Ellenbrook Park.
The woman was taken to hospital on Saturday, treated for her injuries and subsequently discharged later that night.
Suffolk Police arrested a man in connection with the incident on Sunday.
On Monday a spokesperson for the force said Elliott Mallett, 23, of Hawthorn Drive, Ipswich, had been charged in connection with the incident.
Mr Mallett has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated burglary with intent, possession of a knuckle duster in a private place, and possession of a controlled drug of Class B.
He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
